Top 10 Android 4.4 KitKat Features

As we all know, Android 4.4 KitKat was released only a few days ago, along with the announcing of the LG Nexus 5. So on this post, I will be telling you the new features in Android 4.4 KitKat, so be prepared!
Android 4.4 KitKat will be on Nexus devices only for this month and will travel to other devices once the company or provider states so.

1. Music and video seek from lock screen & low-power location mode.

2. Immersion mode
For any app that is best used in full screen for e.g. (Google Play Books) the navigation bar and home/dock bar will disappear. Swiping from the edge of the display will bring back the status bar and navigation buttons.

3. Closed captioning and device management built-in

4. Translucent User Interface (UI)
Google has now brought a stylish new look to Android 4.4 KitKat by making the navigation bar and status bar translucent. This allows for beautiful full-screen wallpapers. However, to ensure legibility of the navigation/status bar, subtle gradients are shown behind the bars. "A typical use-case would be an app that needs to show through a wallpaper," Google says.

5. Emoji icons on Stock keyboard.
Now, Google has added colourful Japanese symbols that speak for themselves, that are pre-installed on Android 4.4 KitKat.

6. "OK, Google"
Google's cool now features is the ability to say "OK, Google" to bring up Google Now (a helpful widget that brings up many useful items to the user). It only works on the Nexus 5 currently, but we are expecting it come to stock Android and maybe other devices soon.
Also Google says that Google now is 25% more accurate and will now speak back to you.

7. New icons, lock screen, boot animation and colour scheme.
This "Holo" new UI look incredibly appealing to me and I am sure many others. The colour scheme now uses a white/grey setup which is less distinguishable but simpler and more minimalistic. The icons now have a flatter design, and the lock screen is improved with a camera shortcut. And not forgetting the new boot-up animation!

8. Smart Caller ID and a new dialer.
Now, it is a phone, RIGHT? That's why we are talking about this and it is a cool feature. Google has a new dialer system in the People app that automatically suggests the people you are most likely to call. Also the new Caller ID from Google matches phone numbers that dial you with businesses it pulls automatically from Google's vast database!

9. Launcher swapping made easy.
Finally, we now have an option in Android 4.4 KitKat to browse between stock and installed launchers (homescreen replacements as Google states). You need to go to Settings > Home, and you can switch from Apex to Nova to stock Android KitKat quickly!

10. Hangouts with Messaging integration.
Google's Hangouts IM app now allows the user to send text messages and MMS as well, within its app. You can also post GIFs and use the Autoawesome feature to brighten up your video chat sessions with Google Hangouts. BRILLIANT!
