From Android Cupcake to Android KitKat, we have come a long way since the start of an era. And now for the month of October 2013, we get to see how well each version of Android is doing in the month of October. The results go from Android 2.2 Froyo to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Earlier versions of Android are not recorded as they are not used enough to be placed in the charts. And Android 4.4 KitKat is not in the charts as it was announced at the end of October and at the end of the survey.
Android is now aiming to reach 1 billion users since Android 4.4 KitKat has been released. And if they are at 900 million activation's now, that figure is extremely realistic.

Android versions from 2.2 Froyo - 4.3 Jelly Bean are shown in the table. |
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has lost 0.8 percent points of its share and has fallen below the 20% . Honeycomb (3.2) is still at the 0.1% threshold. And in Jelly Bean (the latest operating system available to many devices) all three releases have improved their shares. Android 4.1 rose by 0.8 points, Android 4.2 gained 1.9 points, while Android 4.3 added another 0.8 points. We expect to see some of the share of the first two Jelly Bean releases transfer to Android 4.3 in the next few months as more updates come in.
We don't expect Android 4.4 KitKat will do terribly well next month due to the fact that it will be seen mainly powering Nexus devices. But it will make an appearance in the next figure release.
